Although it has been a couple of weeks now since I returned from Okinawa to learn about the US base issues from local Okinawa residents, US for Okinawa in Tokyo is continuing our advocacy with those local residents to resist building plans for building more bases in their communities and neighborhoods. You can see pictures from our trip below:
We have issued a detailed report of our study program that you can read here. We are sharing this report with as many people in and outside Okinawa and Japan, so please read it and pass it along. We are also requesting a meeting with the US Ambassador or representative from the Embassy of Japan in Tokyo to share this report of the study program and concerns about US military policy in Okinawa from US citizens living in Japan.
Many of the participants gave reflections of their experiences of the study program and what they learned from local residents on the last day in Okinawa. Below is my video reflection:
